“AT THE HEART OF BAIDURI BANK, IS A TRUE BRUNEIAN. ONE THAT IS DEDICATED IN HELPING INDIVIDUALS REALIZE THEIR DREAMS..”

I realize that maybe i won’t have a chance writing about Baiduri Bank in HYS since i know Baiduri Bank had invested a big banner in this Brudirect. But i also know that Mr Ignatius Stephen believes in fairness and on publishing the voices of Bruneians. For that,I thank you in advance.

I am a government servant who had been a customer of Baiduri Bank for many years and an active user of its ATM Machine. And on payday especially, ATM Card for me is quite important because i need to pay several bills like electricity, water, astro etc.

On May 2009, suddenly, my debit card cannot be used so i went to the card centre and the lady say they will fix it because there is something wrong with it. After nearly a month, and upon collection of my new DEBIT card, a lady in the front desk gave me a new password. Surprisingly, i still cannot use my card. So i need to queue up to meet the bank teller to withdraw my money!!

So for a second time, i went to the card centre and queried and they again retrieve my card and say they will fix it! I was not on a hurry at that time but i was a bit dissapointed.

After nearly a week, i went to collect my card and the lady on the front desk said ‘don’t worry, your card will be active this afternoon so here is your new password’. Again for the third time, i found out that i still cannot withdraw nor deposit money via my debit card on the ATM Machine! With the repeated mistake i said to myself ‘Astagafirullahazim - everybody makes mistakes” so just calm down.

For the third time i went again to the card centre trying to figure out what is going on with my atm card. Then the lady on the front desk told me to wait until 11 pm and my card will be active and she confidently say, this time it will be alright.

I did not check again because i believe they will do the job right this time. But when payday comes, i am very dissapointed to know that i had to queue up to see the bank teller again because i can’t use the card AGAIN!.

I confronted the people at the card centre and a lady told me ‘that i actually cannot use the debit card because my account has been blocked and i need to withdraw money from the bank teller only’.!!

I am surprised they told me that after supplying me with new card. How is it that i cannot use it on ATM, and why is my account being blocked if i can still withdraw my salary via the bank teller?!! Is it because by supplying an ATM Card to me then they can charge me with 19 dollars on annual fee without caring if i cannot use my card? And my savings account was not blocked after all because i can still withdraw my salary.

By now, i figure that perhaps these ladies don’t know what they’re talking about so i asked if i could know why is that so. The lady told me that my situation had been under direction of ‘the people on top management’. I asked who are these people and where is their centre so i can formally send queries and perhaps they could enlighten me with what’s going on.

Unfortunately, the lady told me that she could not tell me who the ‘people on top management are/is’. I am left in the dark on the matter so i just left feeling puzzled and dissapointed.

I am not trying to defame anyone nor make Baiduri look bad but am merely venting my frustrations on their ill treatment.

The government had entrusted Baiduri Bank to take care of Bruneians.

Many government servants are Bruneian. Please don’t treat us badly if we are just normal government labourer or clerks. We may not be a rich businessman but we are still your customer, one that you had been entrusted by the government to take care.

Ironically, Baiduri’s slogan is “AT THE HEART OF BAIDURI BANK, IS A TRUE BRUNEIAN. ONE THAT IS DEDICATED IN HELPING INDIVIDUALS REALIZE THEIR DREAMS..”

now tell us Baiduri - where is your true bruneian heart?

As we all aware that the number of people affected by H1N1 virus are increasing day by day, shouldn’t the government close all schools? I know it’s hard to make decision because we have to consider those students who will be facing big examinations such as O-Level and A-Level. However, this virus has been a world issue. We surely don’t want to lose lives. Please take precautions.

Furthermore, if schools are to open, we cannot be100% sure that students wouldn’t be affected by this virus because toilets are not clean! For God’s sake. Toilets are very dirty, it is sort of like no one ever wash it. For example, there are 3 toilets but only one can be used. How pathetic is that? So, I hereby suggest that the government should consider closing schools.

The Current hype regarding the H1N1 influenza is becoming a worry to the general public. The ministry of health has done a good job in advising the public in regards to the steps that they have to follow to reduce the chance of contracting the disease. Additional counter measures should be taken as suggested below:-

1. I believe at this time of pandemic these should be some quarantine rule in regards to leaving and coming into the country.
2. If numbers in regards to the H1N1 increase in the course of the week the relevant authorities should consider a further extension in coming back to school.
3. Apart from this I believe that the safest procedure is to have a couple of medical staff assigned to schools around the country to be in charge of the temperature of students and teachers. Being aware of the lack of health personal teachers are able to assist but under no circumstances should it be left entirely to the teachers as again a reminder they are not trained professionals.
4. I believe that it should be made compulsory that all members of the public put on a mask whether they have the H1N1 Virus or not. The reasons for this is that if you do have the virus it will reduce the spread and if you don’t have the virus it acts as a prevention towards direct contamination. For this to be successful the government should distribute the mask to the general public, as of current this is the only way to enforce everyone wearing the mask.

Hefty penalties should be imposed if someone was caught in the public without a mask. i.e $500 fine In addition to the above statement about mask. *Has the relevant authorities checked the prices of mask in the market recently? It is beyond the affordable price of a consumer. N95 Mask $4.90 each @ Huaho Department Store Guardian Nano mask @ 11.90 for a pack of 5 Surely retailers are making profit at the expense of the pandemic and i hope relevant authorities should see to the fair prices of the following items.

Sincerely from a concerned citizen.

Oh DHL. You have the most interesting commercials on tv and probably provide the best courier service in Asia. It does not however give you the right to give your potential customers attitude just because it was their first time calling to ask about what you can do and how to go about getting such services. I will find out what UPS can do just to add to my pro list of choice when I’m choosing them over you. Politeness goes a long way.

salam everyone. as you all know, there are more than 50 cases of H1N1 in brunei. i heard rumours saying that the school holiday is going to be extended (AGAIN). i strongly disagree with this. why? because we need to catch up with the syllabus. plus, we’re having big exams soon.

it’s true that we don’t want more and more people to get infected but then, think. siapa yang pemajal ani, yatah kamu nah, memajal ka ke luar negeri…. ani kana, nah apa jadi? i strongly disagree if the MOE or MOH extend the holiday lagi.

just wondering, as the number of H1N1 cases increasing on daily basis, what is the number of people recovering? Bet out of 42 infected people on statistics, half of them must be healthy by now… can MoH clarify the number of infected person as well as number of person who are already recovered? then it would be appropriate to advise the public ‘jangan panik’

Thanks
