ATF handled poorly.
February 1, 2010 – 4:53 pmIn the news we see ” good” coverage and positivity. However, what the public does not know is that behind closed doors most of the delegates are very much disappointed and frustrated with our very own Brunei.
Main reasons being racism, unprofessionalism and above all the incapability of handling the simple mode of transportation (compromising of very import ppl: tourist agents, minister representatives & VIP). Missed flights and meetings have been a troublesome issue for the past few days. There is always problem with transportation and the unprofessionalism of the related parties. Liasons and ushers are not to be blame but the management itself and the parties involve in arranging the mode of transportation. only to be dealt with curses and remarks by locals saying “better off not to come to Brunei at all!” “go back to your country and never come back!”
Such negativity is very much destructive in Brunei’s reputation as an abode of peace. Attempts in luring tourism as a means of economic stability in this manner would be a real joke. At this rate, we are more to driving the tourist away than tempt them to come and visit Brunei again. Sealing our fate with the bad impression the managing committee.
One such person is the so called “manager” whose unprofessional ethics have made such a “wonderful” impression with his curses and irration of the delegates. Another woman “manager” too for her racist attack on her own managing staff driver. Brings much sorrow to the impression that Brunei is warm and welcoming to all walks of life.
Please.. If anyone at all reads this.. bring this message to whom can make a difference and not let this uneventful turn of events go unforgotten..

Why people think only the negative things? And n0t positive things? The people work hard? Could anyone appreciate wat they do g0od? And not the bad thing? Did you gve s0me empathy?

First of all pardon my grammar from the first post, wrote it during the late night.
I am not blaming the government nor the working staff but the managing committee who handled the bit. True everyone was working till late but the AGREEMENT WAS from 8am to 5pm. Working staff were shock to find that they had to wake at 5am and leave work as late as 1am. Mind you, there are also teenagers working these shifts tirelessly but UNDERPAID and EXPLOITED.
Why do I know this you may ask? First hand account. If you werent there all day and night what say do your words play a role? The purpose of this complaint is to highlight the problems and to assure future kinks be rectified. Im sure to a large extent everything looked to have ran smoothly, but that is what you want to believe.

Wondering if your are man? Be guy and see Brunei Tourism if you have something bad to say about ATF 2010. I was invovled as runner with the transportation services. I don\’t know which delegate miss their flight. Were you down at ATF working with us? Or are you trying to make Brunei Tourism and committee bad name? Speak out?
All delegate know that we were trying our very best to give them first class services with it come to transfer. We can’t please every one. We just have to do what we could do.
Support your own tourism in Brunei. If you think you could have done good job. Why didn’t you join the team?
Jose - which agreement ? When I sign up as runner we were all told that we had to sometime work late. We were warn about it. Wondering where did all your information come from now ?

Jose
You did get all your information right. How did you know all of this? I was involve as part-timer runner for transportation side. On behalf of myself n other part-timer we did try out best to work what we have and give Brunei good name. We can’t please every one down. Which is totally impossible. Were you runner? When I apply as runner - we were told that some night we might have to work late. UNDERPAID and EXPLOITED - I don’t think that right word since we were told about our pay and the hour. Who told you that the agreement was from 8am to 5pm.. I know some of people had to work as early as 5am in the morning.
What are you trying to point out? At this stage, I got a lot of facebook message from delegate : even if transportation was not prefect.

i’m one of the commetee in airport so they called protocol..inda pulang ku ingat ada yg ketinggalan flight..but there are changes yg inda kami dapat info frm urussetia..luckyly kami standby d airport kadang2 sampai subuh..but then delegates ani ada 2 groups..one yg attend the atf meetings and the other buyers and seller which temasuk jua media (the second atu not under us, but we do help them kalau needed)..i heard and see first hand jua problems yg ada tapi dapat di resolved jua lah…walau pun working sampai 17hrs straight..we try to do our best..complaints memang banyak di dangar…with reasonable xplainations yg logic dapat jua durang terima..well for me AMAF was better kalau dari segi urussetia ..bukannya atf inda baik..anyway post mottem needed jua lah to look into things yg telapas pandang..

What ProtocolAtf said is correct that there should be post-mortem. The harder we work, the more time we spend on work, the more stress we get, and hence the chances to overlook things do exist, no matter how perfect we planned things.
Base on my experiences as L.O., dissatisfaction among a few delegates (not all delegates) did exists. The problem was they never told us. Bila ditanya “Is everything OK? Are you enjoying your stay?” and so on, they always said “everything is OK.”. You have to talk to the right person to get the truth. They were making all those good comment, just may be, out of courtesy. MAY BE.
That’s what we did. I remember this one delegate that my friend and 1 were assigned to. When we, they said everything was perfect. But when we asked around, we got a different story.
Remember kata pepatah “pokok nda kan bergoyang kalau angin nda betiup.” So all complaints and comments should be taken positively. Maklum some of these delegates…KEBASARAN…Selagi nda kena layan macam royalty nda tia puas hati tu.
